In a departure from the norm, I am sending out an early newsletter this week. One reason for this is the fact that the South peninsula will grind to a complete halt with the Big Walk on Sunday. Well not a complete halt, but to the speed of thousands of large ladies crammed into too much Lycra kind-of-pace. The other reason is that we can be relatively certain that the Bay is going to be the place to dive for the next few days at least. We have decided to close the shop completely on Sunday and will instead be partaking in a Big Sleep In.
We return to normal from tomorrow when our IDC candidates start returning back home. It’s been a treat hosting Colleen from Amanzi again this year for our largest IDC group to date. Well done to all the successful candidates, including our very own Jan who was on course this year. Our new pool and classroom have been well broken in and it’s a good feeling to be completely finished with the building.
There is another DAN Diver’s Day this Saturday, 9th November in Simonstown. Please consider coming along for an interesting an informative day. Please RSVP with the DAN Office if you are joining – details below.
Carel snapped these two great shots on the PMB the other day – just amazing what you can find when you really slow down to have a good look! The Bay is looking nice today and we are out at the moment. Light NW and small swell are the theme until Saturday, when a light Southerley arrives.
We have just done our annual price escalation which we do this time every year, so from now our Boat Cards will be R2300, our Air Fills R50 (R450 for a 10-fill card), our Nitrox fills up to 40% will be R70. We have tried to keep these increases as reasonable as possible, just to keep track with the increases in fuel and electricity costs.
Some rare fish spotted by Carel on the PMB recently: A Horned Blenny on the left and a “Snakelet” on the right!
