Skipper Dave got wet - piscesdivers.co.za

Pisces News: 24th April 2014

Boy, have we been having fun in Simon’s Town! The weekend was a touch rough but in that really nice “Cape Town” way *wink*. The wind was howling but that didn’t stop the faithful few that made it out despite the Two Oceans Marathon. While Mike is away, the staff will play and – goodness me – have we been playing! Both Jan and Skipper Dave got their regs wet for the first time in many months! I haven’t heard such numerous squeals of delight underwater since before I started to wear a hood! The next conquest is to get our most trusted service technician Alan under the sea. Last Friday’s boaters were treated to shoaling yellowtail and a nice view of the visiting H.M.S. Portland berthed in the Navy yard.

Photographic evidence: Skipper Dave has dived in Cape Town!!!

Good news for photographers: the Nudibranchs are out in stacks and feeling very frisky – the reefs are covered in egg masses and ribbons of all kinds. Great subjects for those shooting for the Durban Undersea Club Shootout 2014 – shooting period ending 4 May (more information at www.duc.co.za).

We are getting extremely excited for the Cape Town Dive Festival to be held at Seaforth Beach from 2 – 3 May (more information at www.ctdf.co.za). We Capetonians will always jump at the opportunity to show off our awesome diving to visitors from the rest of the country and beyond. Speaking of those from beyond, the Red Sea Trip will be back in a few days! We can’t wait to hear their tales of foreign and exotic lands and waters.

Conditions are looking fabulous for this weekend! Just jumped out of the water now and the last of the swell is working its way out of the Bay and the winds are still. There is still space on the boat for the weekend, so grab your regs and pop on down! Jack, the mocha expert, has graduated from flowers and heart designs and can now do you a dorid nudibranch design for your drinking pleasure.
