Baby skate at Long Beach Simons Town - piscesdivers.co.za

Pisces News: 2nd October 2014

The wind did turn on us earlier this week but in a way, we’re quite glad! We’ve changed the plan for tomorrow to go and play in the Atlantic! For the weekend we’ll stay in False Bay. The Bay is choppy on top at the moment but the colour is still so blue! Carel and Neil have both had a busy week with teaching. We’ve welcomed a new Advanced Open Water diver and have two Open Water students in the classroom as we speak! The wind will drop for Saturday and only pick up during the day on Sunday, so we’re excited to get out there!!

National Marine Week starts next week from 6 to 12 October! Georgina Jones, local naturalist and author, will be a talk on the many discoveries of marine life and previously unknown interactions made by South African scuba divers! The talk will be held at Pisces Divers at 18h00 on the 7th of October. There is no cost to attend and our café will be open for business. Please RSVP to georgina@surg.co.za so we can get a good idea of attendees! iSpot will be holding a competition during National Marine Week in which contributors could win a really fabulous badge.

Travel:

One of our Instructors, Carel, will be leading a Pisces Divers group on a grand adventure to Sodwana Bay from18 October to 25 October. Our divers will be staying at ReefTeach and will get 10 boat dives (includes air and weights), breakfasts and dinners, transport to-and-from the beach and to-and-from the airport and lodging at ReefTeach! MPA permits and airfare just must be organised and Mango is always having deals! The trip is R8900 per diver and we have 2 spots left!
