NAME: Clown Anemone
SIZE: 1cm in diameter.
DISTRIBUTION: False Bay to at least 10m. Endemic
DESCRIPTION: A small anemone with tentacles which may be banded in whit black and yellow or mostly white or even translucent. All have the curious habit keeping a couple of tentacles extended and the rest flat, giving it the appearance a jester’s hat.
NATURAL HISTORY: Most often seen between kelp holdfasts, but alp sometimes found on reef walls.
